About

Bon Appétit from Southern California!

As life in Southern California is always hectic with little time to cook, let alone keeping up with new recipes beyond what I have learned growing up, and with a husband who loves to eat well and enjoys the experimentation of trying out new recipes, the need for a central recipe blogspot was imminent. This blog is an attempt to consolidate all of our favourite recipes, with the additions and substitutions we have made over time. All tested by us, our family or our friends.

Our recipes use mostly locally grown produce with an emphasis on seasonal availability. A few recipes include the occasional imported thing, always available here in local markets.  I grow as many herbs as possible and find it a joy to be able to step out into the garden for a fresh selection.  We believe in a varied, healthy diet, using real butter, real cream, eggs, lots of green vegetables, fresh home grown herbs, and protein from meat, fish, beans, and cheese.

We cook the recipes multiple times, improving and updating as we go, so keep in mind that what you see here is a work in progress.

I invite you to try the recipes, and if you would like, leave constructive feedback in the comments.

Thanks so much for visiting socalcooking.wordpress.com,

Alett & Kris Lewis
